Design Dilemma Lighting

Help Placing Light Fixture Over Stairs

I am trying to determine the placement of a light fixture over the open tread stairs. The stairs are also open to the great room and have a landing of 4’. Do I center the light over the entire stairs or do I place it closer to three stairwell. The light fixture is 32.25L x 32.25W x 23.375”H.

There are so many more interesting and dramatic ways of lighting a staircase than just hanging a fixture over it.

I have stairs that turn the way yours do. I have a hanging fixture over the landing in the middle. There are also lights at the top and bottom of the stairs (hallway, foyer and basement). The one at the bottom of the basement stairs is on the same switch as the one over the stairs because those stairs are more enclosed.
