New return air grille loud

The previous grilles on my return air ducts were painted, dirty, so I decided to replace them. I got grilles the same size, same look, same size of slates, only in a clean white metal. I vacuumed the duct when it was open, and put on the new duct. This one sounds so loud as the furnace is on compared to the old one. What could be causing this?
