From the descriptions these are two reblooming dianthus from Bluestone Perennials.

I couldn't comment on Bluestone dianthus but will say that the smaller maiden and cheddar types (gratianopolis and deltoides) will definitely rebloom,even the carnation types if deadheaded (and possibly even without bothering). The tall carthusianorum and biennial barbatus have one main bloom cycle (quite a long one) but yep, the ground coverers will rebloom after deadheading. None of them are what I would call continuous all summer flowerers, having blooms in cycles, but the foliage is also a big plus with these little plants.

@Jeb zone 5 Your first link is the constant reblooming one. The name itself gives the clue. They have a registered trademark symbol next to the words "Constant Beauty". That is the only Dianthus in their entire line with that trademark. Search on that term. Thank you for finding that!

Depending on the intent behind the modification, the process to go about genetically modifying a plant is complicated and very costly. So it makes perfect sense that the focus would be on cash crops - agricultural products - that generate a lot of money........corn, cotton, wheat, alfalfa, soybeans, potatoes, etc. And there have been a few forays into less $$ heavy items (apples, papayas) but the primary intent of genetic modification was to limit or resist certain diseases, resistance to insect predation and to tolerate the use of herbicides to control weeds, all valid reasons for farmers to maximize their yields and therefore their incomes.

As with most new technology, the longer it's been around and the more sophisticated we are about its uses, it becomes less expensive and so the opportunities widen as the initial investment reduces.

There is at least one GMO'd ornamental now on the market - glow in the dark petunias (about the silliest excuse for a genetic modification I can think of!!). And at $29 per plant - for what is typically an annual - well, you can see the economic benefit to the developer.

I'd also add that there is a great deal of confusion regarding genetic modification. It is not all manmade. A great deal of it occurs naturally without any human intervention at all and has been going on as long as plants have been on this planet. It would probably be better to refer to the human manipulation of plant genes in a lab as genetic engineering.
