We did this with some boxwoods at the start of spring last year and it took them into the fall to put on substantial leaf growth. They look full but small now at a year later - they’re about a foot tall and wide. They had previously overgrown with lots of branches without leaves and look much better. Boxwood has similar growth rate to inkberry imo.
