This is the floor plan. Stools are currently against the bar, which is a 12 inch overhang.

I thought of the same solution as tracefloyd. I would also move the TV down a few inches.

There doesn't appear to be a way to accommodate barstools without remodeling the countertop.

You could flip the sofa/chaise and place a table and chairs behind the sofa/chaise.

Your TV and cabinet are both too tall for the room. This isn't a sports bar.

Having the TV on the diagonal will allow for a larger screen TV

If you create a counter that hangs over the edge, I'd consider a very minimal barstool.

The barstools are right in your face and appear to be out of place. Maybe swivel backless barstools would be better.

Regarding your floorplan, can you see if I understand your dimensions correctly plus would you please fill-in the missing ones.

Would you be open to trying the TV/console on the small wall where the dog bed currently is? Then you'd have more room for the stools, and could easily have a sofa table behind the sectional. We might suggest getting a rug as well to help ground the space. Visuals are included below to help more.

Do you possibly have another room that you can use as a family room/TV room?

How many people would use the room daily and how many guests do you want to accommodate?

Some suggestions:

--Move sofa forward about two feet. Eventually anchor it on a large patterned rug.

--No stools. See dining suggestion below.

--Lower TV over a much wider sideboard on that wall or a shelving setup like this that runs entirely across the far wall.

--Get a beautiful rectangular or oval dining table, on the narrow side, to float behind the sofa. That will break up that expanse of the sofa back. Add long, low comfortable upholstered dining chairs that you can move to living room area when you have company. Do a search for "dining table behind sofa or entryway dining table."

Congratulations on your new home. There are a lot of yeses to your questions. The biggest one being, see if you can return that couch. If not, yes, just selling it. It is way too big for that room. Please give us the measurement of the wall from the counter to the wall of windows. From your sketch, it looks as if it is only 12 feet on that wall. And the TV does need to be lowered as previously suggested by someone else. Let me see if I can put together a 3-D rendition for you with some suggestions.
