Are you meaning the middle burner? Looks like scorch cooked on after a rice or pasta boil over. Do you use Cerama Bryte to clean top? Do you wipe down with wet dish cloth during after cooking clean up?

I'm not sure that it is residue, because it happens from nearly everything we cook. I made pancakes this morning and it resulted in the same discoloration - no spillover or wetness burning.

I wasn't expecting to need to do so much maintenance for basic cooking, like pancakes.

I have a (GE) Café and we had something similar happen after my DS seared beef in a cast iron pan. I thought he had somehow scorched it, but it came up with a plastic scrubby. The top is as good as new. (Mine is a little over a year old.) I have no idea why there was residue left behind.

Other than that one time, we've never had an issue.

Suggestion: Try cooking with a paper towel b/w the cooktop surface and the pan.

• If the residue persists, it's probably not the pan. The next step would be to contact Monogram. Do it ASAP so it's still under warranty (assuming it still is).
• If it "fixes" the problem, then it's likely it's the pan. The good news is that you can then just use a paper towel each time and you should no longer have an issue.
