Not sure what you're asking about or expecting. That just looks like a normal garden in March. It's not going to be pristine. My only query would be whether the wall round the tree has been built up and filled with soil/mulch over the root flare. If so get rid of it. Mow the lawn and swap the bright green plastic rope for something less egregious. I see nothing wrong with the grading and the area of grass is small. Unless you have a huge back lawn which we can't see, I don't see the need for a 'lawn service'. They're a rip off imo and want to sell you stuff you don't need.

Once tree ring is removed I'd like to create a bed from the tree over to the driveway. In the summer the grass on that slight slope is dry & patchy. What do you envision or recommend?

I would camo the utility boxes in the lawn with shrubs to hide them.

I would plant the area in the entry walk alcove with plants and add a water feature. The sound of a water fountain would be fantastic in the enclosed space.

I agree remove the tree ring in the lawn and lower soil height around the trunk. Enlarge the planting area around the tree but not all the way to the drive or sidewalk. Plant flowers there.

Thank you for your input, tracefloyd. Hosta, lily of the valley & clematis do fill the entry area and I will soon be putting my fountain back outside!

Yes. Search images using "plant island in lawn" ....some good inspo pics...so yes this will be really nice. Lay out your cofiguration using a garden hose.
