I've been hearing them, too...assuming that "peepers" means tree frogs...

The Spring Peepers have been singing here in north east Ohio for the last two weeks. We have had unusually mild temperatures that have brought them out earlier than usual. Across the street from me catty - corner to my house is an old farm pond and the singing they do at night is almost deafening - but I love hearing it!

The spring peepers that herald in the spring weather with their singing are not the same treefrogs that live in the Pacific Northwest. When spring peepers are done laying eggs for the season they hide out for the summer months and it is very rare to see any. In the springtime there can be hundreds of them breeding in ponds and vernal pools. Spring Peepers live in the eastern states and parts of Canada.

The peepers were around this week in surround sound! There must be a bumper crop as the vernal pools in the woods surrounding my property have sprung up due to the rainy weather.

No peepers here yet, but spring is early so it should be soon!

I've been hearing a lot of woodpeckers this spring too. That and mourning doves. I am not in an area that has Peepers, though.

Frogs and garter snakes were easy to spot when I was knee high to a grasshopper but now I almost never see them (or even hear) and yet we live next to a greenspace...sigh.
