Hunter fans are a quality fan, available anywhere.

there are also integrated fan and light units, NOT the tacky fans with light kits.

DH is a retired engineer. I recommend you look for fans with DC motors. They're usually quieter than AC. Be sure they are balanced when installed. We have a Minka Aire in our bedroom. It moves enough air at the lowest setting that I rarely put it on a higher setting. We have A/C too, but this allows us to not have to cool the whole house overnight to get a cooler, more comfortable temp for sleeping.

Hunter is a great brand. Had 2 for many years.

Make sure to get one with a remote - especially in bedrooms where you can change fan speed without having to get out of bed.

The newer design of fans ( posted above ) are really interesting too. Unfortunately I have not seen one installed anywhere. I would suggest looking into a lighting showroom and see if you can find one on display.

I used to live in SiliconValley, I had a couple of Minka Aires

My folks had a couple of Hunter Fans..They looked generic, an advantage, one of the fans had a problem, a very inexpensive fix was replacement.

A white ceiling hugger fan can be minimal.

We have Minka Aire fans in all four bedrooms. They’re great.

We have a Monte Carlo fan in the bedroom. Can't remember the style name but I actually don't think they make it anymore. Anyway, it's a 3 blade with a light, handheld remote. It's in a coffered ceiling so it has a short stem.

They make a lot of flush mount fans.

We also have a BigAss Haiku fan in our kitchen.

I think those brands and Minka have very similar styles and you couldn't go wrong with any of them. I've personally never been a fan of Hunter fan styles but that's just me.

I'd seen this walnut/white fan in an Austin project house article for Atomic Ranch magazine. I don't know anything about the quality, but it has a MCM look. There are other mid-mod styles as well on that site.

I love our Minka Aire Artemis fans. One very large in family room. One smaller in the Master. No light fixture. They move a ton of air and are very quiet.
