Do not design a window or a wall, design a house. There should be design continuity that exists throughout the design as the elements relate to each other and to the site and environment it is in. The side elevation should relate to all the other elevations. It is art, not Mr. Potato Head.

That is good advice, thank you! In this case, it is an affordable housing footprint and design that I have limited time to make upgrades/modifications to (the building crew doesn't want to deviate much from the design they've previously built many times) ... I wish I had more time/resources to design the entire house from scratch, but I don't in this case. Playing around with window pattern like this, but maybe it would look silly from the exterior:

I would put two windows on that wall, far apart enough to place your tv between them. You can put blinds and/or drapes to add privacy from house next door and it will look more balanced from exterior.

With a structure 10 feet away, I don't see a aesthetic benefit from adding to what's there. inside or out. I'd consider deleting the transom windows and using the savings towards the video installation quality level. Larger screen or sound components.

I don’t think the transom idea will benefit space. I would amp up skylight plan and recessed lighting plan to give user better functionality layout options.

Depending on the orientation of that transom, it might make it hard to watch TV without glare in your eyes.

I would just add one narrow window to get some light from 2 sides and I also like to be able to have a window on every side of a house ... nice to be able to look out if you hear a noise outside!
