Brandon - I loved your explanation about where/when to see what kind of roses, and how remote small cemeteries are the best for rose looking. It is sad, but it seems that the surviving large cemeteries tend to be very commercial, and have maintenance activities that do not support roses surviving long.

Regarding the subject of warm climate once blooming roses, here in our zone 9/10 in Northern CALIF there are a few once blooming warm weather roses surviving in old neighborhoods like mine. They tend to be such things as banksias (double yellow and white), gigantea hybrids like Belle Portugaise, and some old actual Chinese roses like Fortune's Double Yellow. All of the other "once blooming" roses I have found in my 120 yr + old garden or around our old neighborhood have, once I rooted them and moved them into more sun, turned out to be repeat bloomers which were just not getting enough sun. Oct is the month when we see the most bloom on repeat bloomers of all kinds. Many go dormant in our hot dry summers.
