Lamp makeover #2, whimsical version.

last month

A month or so ago I posted about a lamp shade I had made for a vintage little celadon elephant lamp. After that I wanted to try making a pleated fabric lampshade. I followed a youtube video (link below). Used an Ikea table runner for the fabric and then picked up this cute little bulldog lamp at a thrift store. It's originally from Target. Groovy sunglasses from Amazon. The lamp is headed for the beach house.Pleated fabric lamp shade tutorial

Your lampshade looks great. I’m not sure if the tutorial that i viewed is the same one that you linked but it would not have occurred to me to do this with individual strips of fabric. very cool.

Thanks, all! I really appreciate all the feedback. One of the reasons I love this site is the fellowship of kindred aesthetic spirits. Sueb20, I definitely thought of you when I found this little guy!

Great tutorial! I especially liked the hint to glue the top end of the strips first and follow up with the bottom section. Most lampshades are narrower at the top vs the bottom and this hint gives you the wiggle room. Now, I need to find a lamp to makeover.

I actually have a frenchie lamp (of course I do) that I almost forgot about bc it’s in the attic guest room. It might actually be the same lamp. I also have a rabbit lamp (from PB kids) that could use a new shade. Problem is, I have too many half finished projects already, but I will add this to my list!
