First Floor Foyer Decorating Ideas

I am looking for some decorating ideas for my first floor foyer of my raised home (living space is on the second floor and you enter on the first floor on the same level as the garage) I am looking to make the space less cold and more welcoming. Right now it just feels like an endless pit of doors. The rest of my house is modern leaning slightly contenporary with shades of blues and greys. I do not have to keep the existing art or rug

You defiinetly need some color and texture. What colors do you use upstairs? For the front door? I suggest that you consider replacing the black door mats to something less stark? It also looks as if you need light fixtures on the staircase. (A motion-sensor battery operated one might work.) Would you consider a colorful runner on the stairs?
