Rough Hardwood Floors

I have some very old hardwoods from in an industrial building. I’d like to jeep them ”rough” looking - not perfect like a home. I had to use 24 grit to take off years of stain and paint. I’m going to water pop and stain. Can I leave them at 24 grit? I like the look and don’t mind the scratches

PS - sanding and stain because old poly coming off and stain faded in spots

Yes, you can finish it at 24 grit. It will be super rough and difficult to clean. You will use more finish then needed. Probably double the amount recommended.

Great thanks and regarding water popping - is this necessa if i like the stain color with water popping?

and if i do water pop, how long do i have to stain? a day? a week? etc

Yes, water pop, especially for rough floors. If, room temperature is maintained around 70 degrees. it should only take an hour to dry. You can apply the stain right afterwards.
