Mine gets mostly morning sun too and it spreads like crazy. It has taken over one area and jumped to other areas.

Another woodland phlox lover here! Yes, it spreads like crazy if it is happy and I, too, enjoy the scent. Blooms its fool head off without fail. Downside is it can get a bit ratty after bloom and into mid summer, but since it's in part shade to shade there are lots of other beefy, leafy plants around to divert the eye.

I agree, mxkd! Still worth it, though. By the time the hostas and such fill in it's negligible.

I wonder if the cultivars have any scent - ? Mine is just good 'ol P. divaricata.

Lost count of the number of times I have tried phlox of all kinds. I have a single wild pink paniculata growing underneath a tree paeony but all my other attempts end in woefully shrivelled leaves by July - just cannot do the extra watering they obviously need in my free-draining and lean soil. I can just about manage some annual drummondii if I watch them like a hawk (so obviously, I hardly ever do).

Blue moon is a cultivator and the scent is great ! Unfortunately I don’t have many spots that get only a couple hours of sun. I bought two so I may just plant them in a spot behind something that shades them and as my plants fill in I’ll have a supply to divide and start filling in some gaps.

I have plenty of phlox paniculate doing great in the yard. Jeana, David and a few others grow with ease. The woodland just seems like it likes the perfect spot and when in the perfect spot it does great.

I planted 3 of these beauties last year, can' wait until they look like yours gawdinfever & erasmus!

They did good here for the first year then started declining….

So I moved them to dappled sun here and they are much happier….have divided these since so looking forward to this years blooms….🤗

Creeping phlox in front

Wow! Everyone has beautiful pics! I love these things. I have no idea which cultivar mine is. I bought one plant at big box store years ago. Last year I divided and took cuttings of a couple. This year, I did many cuttings and they are mostly all tiny little cuttings planted, but doing well. I'm hoping to have these in winding areas of my garden next year and around some of my trees, as well.

Cant keep them.

Rabbits love them even more than i do. i spray repellents but 2 weeks after theyve grown 2 inches the rabbits eat 1 1/2 inches

Garden ho, my experience is like yours--some decline after the first couple of years. Mine need more sun, maybe because my summer climate can be cool. I planted them in two spots. I thought one spot might make them bake with too much sun but they like it better. That spot does have afternoon shade, but lots of sun till maybe 2:00
