I don't know if you solved the cleaning dilemma or not, but is it possible that's where you step out of the shower every day (or with a spouse maybe several times a day)? It's possible, if that's the case that moisture is being absorbed and darkening the tiles with no time between showers to completely dry out. The other thought was overspray from hair products used at the vanity.

@monique this is actually such a funny comment. On the contrary, it’s a very well done install. Maybe educate yourself on expensive tiles before leaving negative, uneducated comments on posts.

@monique Limestone floors and handmade Moroccan Zellige tile in case you’re interested in educating yourself about natural tiles. It won’t look like a subway or factory made tile install because it’s not…that’s the charm and beauty of the materials and I’m simply in love.

Well, the lippage says it is a dangerous trip hazard. And it is against all TCNA standards. The loads of grout residue everywhere in the low spots and around the joints doesn't make up for the lippage either. Not cleaning an install adequately doesn't meet industry standards either. It says someone pretty unskilled was involved. The whole thing needs to be redone.

@monique thanks for your concern, it’s actually perfectly flat everywhere, they and we used a level to ensure that. I fear that it may appear uneven in photos but can assure you it’s flat and not a tripping hazard, if I trip on flat ground I think I have bigger problems…again with the grout, it’s natural materials.

Despite the OP wanting to ostrich it and try to not see it, poor quality tile setting is a big issue here, for the whole room’s install. It has to make you wonder about the waterproofing system underneath, and if they even used one.

Grout haze left on as long as that has been may never come off. That might need a stone restoration specialist to grind it off and then rehone the floors. Bonus is that it will grind down the high spots too. The tub will have to come out to make that happen. That is a backcharge to the tile guy.

You sealed in grout haze. You have to strip the sealer first, and then strip the grout haze. If it can even be stripped. The longer it has sat, the more difficult it is to remove.

to the OP, can you give an update? I'm in love with the buff honed monument for our master bathroom, curious if you're happy with the ones you selected?
