If I see veining on new growth on my roses , I would presume chilli thrips starting their damage and would spray with Conserve or Captain Jacks dead Bug Brew and cut the affected canes . more advanced damage will be blackened new growth .

I dont know about TX though . Could be a nutrient deficiency .

I see this in Spring and don't think it is anything.

Thank you, Artist, and yes. As soon as DA opened in the fall for spring orders - like within a day or two - I put in my order and they had LEH and also Jubilee Celebration which it seems like I’ve read others have had a hard time getting.

I do see some insect droppings there, but that’s not necessarily anything to do with the colouration, which is pretty normal for Lady Em. The young foliage always starts out flushed with reddish purple and then gradually turns green as the chlorophyll takes over, sometimes in an uneven, splotchy manner. She is prone to chlorosis in my alkaline soil and you can see a bit of yellowing inbetween the leaf veins here and there on mine:

I was wondering the same thing, Artist… how in the world did the OP get an LEH this past spring?? I’ve been on DA’s waitlist for how long and haven’t gotten a notice that it was in stock. I check the website frequently as well.

Judi, I had no idea it was difficult to get. It also wasn’t one I had really been seeking out. most of my roses last year were pink so I opted to get LOS, Ronald Dahl and LEH almost on a whim this season to have the full color range. I have no idea why they didnt inform you and how I ended up able to get it.

If I recall correctly LEH was available for a hot minute and some folks got lucky but I have no idea why I and others that had subscribed to be notified didn't get the notification it was back in stock when that happened.

As for the coloring, the bronzy purple new growth is typical (and one of the things I love about her) and while I have no idea whether the speckles are also normal mine had it too early in thr season and it didn’t seem to be an issue in the 6 years I had her before I moved.
