Lol, Diane! Yes, I AM in Fairfield County, after all, lol. I can say that with (fake) superiority - and a big laugh - because I'm from the east side of Bridgeport! I am a bit miffed I paid so much more for them though, but I guess that's par for the course here.

Well, that's encouraging that hopefully these will grow bigger. Yours is lovely Diane - does it have a name (other than Grocery Store Mini lol)?

David mine look pretty much the same as what rifis posted. Yes, they ARE adorable! Hence the reason they came home with me lol.

Thanks, Dee. I live in the desert hills outside Boise, Idaho, SW Idaho. We have a short, intense growing season, and things do grow big here. My mini rose, of whose name I have no idea, is very odd. In fact, I should call it the Frankenstein Rose. In spring, its blooms are regular sized, not mini. Then in our hot summers, the blooms shrink to typical mini size. When the cooler temps of fall arrive, the strange blooms enlarge back to a regular rose size. It's a continuous bloomer and needs no pruning. A kindergarten student gave it to my daughter, his teacher, and I've grown it for about 18 years. And thanks Dianela. I do nothing for this strange rose.

Spring 2023. This year we had way more rain than usual, so it's greener. But it turns brown fast.

Lavender loves it here. I don't do a thing to it, not even give it water.

2 weeks ago at Lidl: 6 pack Wave petunias $4.99 Same cell size. Same original spreading Wave variety.

All 3 exhibited good root development. The ones from Lidl were maybe 1 week behind in top growth (I saw all 3 the same week).

Not the Jersey factor. The Lidl factor. Lidl - rhymes with needle. I am not a paid spokesperson - no disclosures to report.

Lidl is a big supermarket over in Europe.

It looks like RoseScapes miniature roses might actually be miniature roses. They only get to around 6" tall for their biggest size. So a 2-3" plant already, 1-2" growth in a year on what might be a 6" plant. I think that sounds reasonable.

They are probably great in containers and dainty gardening applications. I remember years ago there was a minature rose vendor. Had a windmill on the cover. They carried miniature rose plants that some were really small and some got a couple feet high, and also rose plants that were regular sized plants with miniature blooms.

Rifis, thanks for being such a good sport because I know personally some of the most upscale gardens in the US are in Joisye--seriously. And I feel cheated that we don't have Lidl.

Thanks for the info, beesneeds. Well, I guess I got the roses now, so I might as well enjoy them lol! I'll pot them up and keep them on the patio for now. They certainly are cute and the colors are nice so it's not like I won't like them (after all, I RARELY impulse-buy anything so these obviously appealed to me!) If they get big, they get big; if not, I have mini roses on my patio to enjoy.

I think these little six-packs of miniature roses are adorable! And I hope they also bring some interest back in miniatures, which seemingly almost disappeared over the past decade or two - and now they are back!

It's unfortunate if the varieties aren't named - I assume that is the case here? They might be micro minis, but it seems more likely they are not and the plants will actually get fairly large, 2-4 ft tall and wide on average if they are planted in the garden. I grow them in containers until they get a bit larger so they don't get lost in the garden or stepped on. Regarding hardiness, it's impossible to say, but most of the varieties I grow are good down to zone 5, and I used to grow them in zone 5 as well (now in zone 8).

I recently found out that the mini Carruth rose, Diamond Eyes is for sale on eBay for $150 and described as ultra rare. I don't think so. I grow one. As for hardiness the two minis I grow are super hardy. Diane

Ha, I nearly choked there, Diane! Diamond Eyes is currently €5.50 in a Dutch nursery I and many in the UK have bought from in the past, so less than six dollars. So pretty, I used to have one but it suffered from awful black spot here.

Nollie, there's more to this seller's nutty operation on eBay. I wrote about this on another thread. I nearly choked when I read how inexpensive roses are in Europe. However, recent buyers voluntarily bid on Longago Roses (a very legit and respected seller) Ascot rose and the bid ended at $102,50. Not bad. Diane

I saw a mini rose at Home Depot today for $20. Covered in buds. If i had a sunny enough place, i would have bought it. I bought 2 minis about 20 years ago. One did not make it, the other is about a foot tall.

I never realised how lucky we are until I discovered this thread, Diane. Everything from new releases to rare antique roses can be had here for €10-15. I think the most I ever paid was around €40 for a weeping tree rose!

I LOVE LIDLE'S for their plants in NJ, bought large Philodendron selloums, Schefflera actinophylla, Peace Lillies for indoors ($12.95) and 5 gallon Camellias for the outdoors. HD has gotten too expensive for plants here.

Are mini’s the same as tea roses? I’m just curious as I have quite a few tea roses now after dividing some. The first year I bought them I decided to plant them in the ground late in the season just to see if they would come back, and to my surprise…they did! 😊 They are the prettiest little things and can’t help wonder how big they will get…does anyone know?
