Can anyone ID this Rose?

My son bought a house and this rose is growing in a ditch. Blooms were nearly gone and this is the best one I was able to take a pic of. I have no idea if there’s fragrance.
The bloom is about 2 inches across and the leaves look to be about 1”
Im in SC zone 8b
my google search gives me Rosa palustris or Rosa carolina as closest match but this rose has more petals and a white center.
