Two smaller rugs are easier to wash than 1 large rug. Make certain the are non-slip.

I think the look of two rugs would be nice as well. It will break up the long and narrow feel a bit better.

Two people will use bath rugs differently. I have much the same layout with a long runner. DH is always trying to move it around to suit his style. I move it back. Two people; two sinks; two mirrors; two rugs.

It's the SINK placement that matters within the nine feet. You needn't cover a huge expanse of floor. Nine feet.....

Why do you want or need rugs at the sink - is it just to break up the long bathroom?
Will you put a rug down at the shower?

Not sure how to handle the shower.

I like to stand at the sink @mmc429 with my bare feet and don't want them on the tiled floor.

I slide one of the rugs to the shower and then back to the sink when I've finished my shower.

One large rug with a pattern, and a bath mat/towel for when you step out of the shower, which can hang dry.

Most bath rugs top out at around 5’ long from what I’ve seen. I just went through this myself. I wanted to put down runners but wanted something more interesting. I found some Chindi rugs for bathrooms and laundry room. Ruggables has some nice washable runners as well up to 10’ long or longer.

I am not familiar with chino rugs. Do you think 5’ would work?

Get a 2. 5 ' x 8' runner. It need not be in the "bath" category, as long as washable or cleanable.

It's NINE feet of vanity and you want it covered.......you will have six inches exposed at either end.

Found them on amazon.. search cotton chindi rug or rag rug. Used a 7’ for our 8’ vanity and getting a matching 2x3 for outside shower.

If functionality is your priority (saving the floor from water/wear and tear, and not having to wash), suggest good a quality vinyl mat at sink - there are endless patterns to choose from. Regarding the shower, add a small absorbent mat and remove when not needed.

I have a vinyl runner as mentioned above (from Hudson & Vine) in my laundry room and like it in there, but would not want it for a bathroom. They’re very thin, can be slippery when wet, move around easily, and are not soft underfoot.

I agree with getting an 8’ runner. I tried two rugs in front of my long vanity/double sinks and switched to a pretty Oriental style poly runner a few years ago. We much prefer the runner. Examples below … do a search for lots more:
