I'm surprised your season is running later. There was a late March freeze here too, and I think it's affecting bud counts on the earlies. But at least I'm getting tall scapes this time. My favorites of these are Dragonfly Tattoo and Wonder of It All.

I like the color on both shots of Contrary Canary. I like the name too. Inventive for a yellow.....I hate to think of those bugs eating your blooms. Gardeners have so many odds they must fight against in order to enhance the beauty of nature. In the south in particular it's almost a David and Goliath contest.........Such a pretty color on that Noid. Sorry about the bugs........Maryl

I am glad your season is getting going. We have an early season here--maybe 10 days to two weeks early.

Dragonfly Tatoo is my favorite today. Wonder of It All has beautiful blooms too.

Is it possible your Noid is Emerald Glow. Here is a photo of ours and the blooms are quite large--registered at 7 inches.

Yes, I too think that it may be Emerald Glow. But EG was a terrible performer here--always low bud count and low scape density. What was your source for Contrary Canary? I see lots of aphids here, reminiscent of last year. We are running ahead in everything. And how headed for near 90-degree temps.

Debra, so far my season is a mirror of last year. Late start, deer, bugs, with many not even scaping. I need to do some deep thinking about my gardens and what I need to do with them!

Maryl, I knew Contrary Canary might catch your eye! And yes, gardening in the South is not for the faint hearted. We are now in heat and humidity. Add the deer and bugs including mosquitos and yuck! I have already gotten two ticks off of me. The problem with the lopidea is that they pierce the buds when they are forming-the buds will grow, turn yellow and fall. I know I talk about these every year but the devastation they can cause a daylily garden cannot be understated.

Nan and Mantis-my noid might be Emerald Glow-it certainly looks like it although not in my master list. Could be one I never listed.

Mantis-Contrary Canary came from MP Flower Garden last spring-it has multiplied well

I really like Dragonfly Tattoo. Nice bloom on wornder of It all, mine might have its 1st bloom tomorrow,, at least in the very near future. some very warm weather right now, mid 80s, is really making scapes pop. Since I only have 3 blooming, 1 is on its 2nd bloom year and began blooming same day as last year, Fern Stone is later than usual, and Little Audrey is right about normal. I expect things to really speed up now/.
