How does ignoring the fabric matter if the style is the question/ I see no particular style that is the chair just a nice chair. The fabric will dictate which style it works with.

If you mean late 80's/early 90's vintage farmhouse/country vibe, then yes, you got it. My mom had that sort of set with the full skirtings and all back then, it was in solid blue instead of a pattern. No, it's not Arts and Crafts or Hollywood. The cushioning looks nice and thick, but you might want to sit on it to make sure it's comfy. Sometimes the really thick cushions aren't very comfy.

Thanks we are furnishing a farmhouse whose various sections date from 1820 to 1930, so nothing to do with ”modern farmhouse.” Because of the 1930 parts there are elements of Arts and Crafts. With the furnishings we are sticking to traditional with some Danish modern pieces. That means we don't want to get complicated by adding a piece with some other strong, random period style. We wondered especially about that pretty, bound top/back. But you all seem to be saying this can go with most decor. Very helpful! Thanks!

Oh, I meant 1980's-1990's, not 1880-1890's. Like country ducks, hearts, and blue wash with skirts on everything and heavy cushioning vintage. The chair set is for sure not 1820-1930's farmhouse or Arts and Crafts. It's pretty heavily upholstered for Danish modern, but would probably look nice with it.

I think the skirt on the chair isn't consistent with what you say your style is. But as others have said, different upholstery could change the look enough. But maybe they also would sell this chair with legs instead of a skirt? Can they show you a picture of that?

We can get it without the skirt but would love a skirt! You think it's a gaffe? Am seeing skirts in interiors by Heidi Caillier, who does similar comfortable vintage homes.

The skirt is definitely not 1800s or arts and crafts. If you love and want the skirt, get the skirt; just know that it isn't congruent with the time period/style you're describing. Unless you're created a museum space, your space can have anachronisms and still work as a whole.

It's a fully upholstered lounge chair, very traditional. For the most part as it applies to chairs ? A wood frame of any sort on the chair will be far more indicative of a decorative period.

You're making a home, not a museum. : )

To me? If you love the chair, find it comfy? Have it! But I do think there are others: ) that are younger in feeling and transcend styles and periods. Yours would be younger/fresher in linen, I'd rather have something like these.

I had no idea who Heidi Caillier is. But looking that up, I think that the chair set would work in that sort of decor mashing.

I’d absolutely keep the skirt. Good call looking at Heidi’s designs — I have an inspiration folder full of her skirted chairs. :)

She ( Heidi ) is very good at an old English Tudor eclectic feel.

The chair in question from the op? Is literally.......Just another chair: ) as much due to upholstery on it as style.

Nothing leaves a home in the British Isles. It stays forever, and you add in the new. She has taken a page from that school of thought.

If you are inspired by Heidi Callier, then go for the chair. She has a knack for the eclectic but not eccentric, a slightly British collected over time, clean aesthetic with a tiny nod to specific eras. But mostly a mish mash of what is comfortable and appropriate to a collection of furniture more so than to the just the home itself. I love the tailored look. It is quite expensive fabric. That print comes in many colors.

@Jan Moyer thank you for the wonderful historic tour. We are not fans of Arts and Crafts chairs, hence our dilemma, but love your illustrations of how to carry that line forward in a more youthful way. This is what we seek to accomplish. Heidi does a lot of bungalows in an eckectic way, which is one reason we are attracted to her work. We especially don't want to choose a chair that looks as though it belongs in Versailles. Anyway your pics are very helpful!

You for sure don't have to worry that chair would look like it belongs in Versailles. It is not in the French Baroque style at all.

French Baroque is indeed a very different style than what Heidi is doing. From the pics I've seen of her styling, French Baroque is not one of the styles included in what she does. The chair set you picked does seem to be one of the styles she uses.

Have you tried out the chair yet to see if you like how it feels?

I' rather see a skirted , flirty sofa. Just be aware? Eclectic is fine, mish mash is too easy to achieve: (
