buffett lamps on my table

I purchased two lamps today however when I got home, they are two different sizes. One is 26 and the other one is 30 which height do you think will go best with this table? I do have a mirror ordered that will be coming next week.

Someone asked me to post a picture of all of my entryway. This is the best picture I can get.

I was having trouble getting the app to post my pictures so I had to do a live post

Are you planning to let the little credenza move to another location?

    No

My mirror came today, I was thinking about hanging it 6 inches above the table. Do you have any suggestions?

My mirror came in and I hung it over the entry table. The lamp on this table is 25.5 inches tall. It is not the lamp I’m going to use but just showing it for the height. I think I’m wanting to find a blue. Chinoserie lamp. My question is, do you think this is the right height for a lamp?

Might be the right lamp height? I think your mirror is too low. The brass rail is the top of the credenza--put at least a couple of inches between the rail and the mirror for some breathing room. Also, make sure the mirror is hung high enough for adults of average height to use. Hard to tell form pictures, but right now it looks too low to be useful checking hair and makeup on your way out the door.

When I stand in front of the mirror, I can see all of me from waist up.

Bottom of mirror should be a couple inches higher than brass rail. I would move credenza because it crowds your entry too much. Great find on the bowl!! Perfect touch. I think if you do a blue and white lamp it should be thin like candlestick because too much lamp will visually fill up space too much. Lamp goes on left of mirror. Although, given styling of the buffet, I prefer a pair of lamps to keep that nice symmetry going. I will shop around for ideas.

Flo, thank you for your comments. I did try two different sizes of skinny brass lamps, but did not like them at all. I’m going to return them. I accidentally got two sizes of them by mistake. I do think the credenza on the other side makes it too crowded so I’m going to move it to another spot, I do like the floral big picture that is above the credenza. Someone told me they thought the mirror was too small, what do you think it measures 32 inches width. The table measures 49 inches in length. The reason I hung the mirror there was someone told me it should be no more than 6 inches above the table right now it measures 5 inches above the buffet table maybe, the brass railing is competing with the bottom of the mirror. How many inches do you think I should move it up right now there’s 5 inches from bottom of mirror to top of table. Thanks. I would like to see what lamps you could come up with.

The mirror needs to be higher due to the brass railing plus that extra height will work well. Here is a lamp that is $88 for the pair.

That lamp gives you height and shape with soft blues. Doesn’t add too much visual confusion.

My only concern is that those two lamps might look crowded

Not too sure about the color of the base.

Just use as “concept”. But be careful of too much action on lamp base.

    Okay

Think I will order them, and if I don’t like them, I can always return them.

Flo, Walmart has exact same lamps for $80.00. Shipping is on June 4. However, I will be out of town then, so when I get back, I will order them..

That’s better. You can raise mirror and slide rug over to the left a couple inches. Your entry will feel wider. Much cleaner look. Can’t wait til you get lamps! Love your runner.

The lamps are supposed to be delivered today. I thought I would put the lamps on the table 1st and then decide how much higher the mirror needs to go. I did remove the credenza to a different location and I think it gives the entryway a wider look.

My lamps came today, my question is which lampshade looks best? The smaller one I took off of another lamp and the larger one is the one that came with the lamp. The larger shade does have a few wrinkles in it probably due to packing.

Table is too small for 2 lamps in my opinion.

If you decide to keep two lamps, I prefer the shade on the LEFT. Smaller, more interesting. I am not sold on the finish of the lamp, itself. But it is your home…

  • PRO

Ok. The shade on the left is better proportion. I am not crazy about blues here especially with your red tones art on other wall and berry tones in the runner. Might look for coral color with cream for lamp(s).

The problem is when I was reading about returns, and Wayfair. They said if the box was open, you could not return.

I’m talking to Wayfair and I can return them

There is charging me to return the lamp, so I’m thinking about keeping them and maybe changing the color of the lamps. I did bring these two lamps out just to see how they look.

    ((

The lamp on the left I like the narrower profile of the shade

    Thank you

Okay I guess I'm confused you know you might mean lamp shade color of light I like the bottom one on the left it's a warmer shade of light I think the lamps are the same and the shades are the same but I thought the lamp shades on the first one was a little longer profile I do like the longer profile otherwise my eyes are really playing tricks on me

The original lamps were blue, and had a bigger longer shade. But they are the wrong color, so I’m thinking about painting them a coral color, the lamps that have the glass on them I brought in from my bedroom to see how they would look the lamps with the glass the shades are exactly the same size.

I like the look of the glass lamps and the shades. Given the color of your art, I agree that the blue didn’t work. Why not live with the glass ones for a while? I like the height of your mirror now, too.

Thanks, I’m going to leave the glass ones for a while and see how I like them. wayfair was going to make me pay for shipping so I kept the other lamps. They are giving me a refund of 20% of the cost of the lamps I figure that would be better than what shipping would cost me. I might be painting the other ones someday.

I think the glass ones are quite nice there. Mirror looks just right now. Good job. It would be pretty easy to paint up the blue lamps too. See what you think after a few days. Might be too bedroom like for entry??

Yes, I am going to leave them for a while. They were in my spare bedroom. Also an option I am thinking of, is painting the blue lamps that I got from Wayfair in a some type of coral color.

I love your buffet. A Japanese theme entry would be nice.

I like the glass lamps. They work well with the mirror.

I would only add one lamp with a ceramic base on one side…looks like the art reflecting in the mirror is a bit modern so I would add a modern style lamp for a more eclectic look.

A Japanese theme would not work for me because my house is traditional/mid century, modern, or you might say eclectic.

Maybe a combo on it like this..amber glass vase with a branch…modern lamp…stack of books…traditional buffet and traditional mirror…reflecting the modern wall art.

    So pretty

HIWE has a good point about only one lamp. Here are some entryway consoles and mirrors that are “decorated”. All have one lamp….

One more. Not sure why the photo came up twice…

Yes one lamp so it don't feel buffet!
