Kay, I had no idea the storms were on you. You know we usually check each other and ours was supposed to be tornadic in nature but I did not think they were going in your direction! That is terrible. Thankful no permanent damage was done but sorry about the yard damage. Those winds can do much damage. Keep me posted on clean up.

Kate, it was almost funny. Sleeping when you are very rudely awakened. I knew we were possibly going to have bad weather and that we would have high instability but it was an unending barrage...not tornadic, but straight line winds and they were quite something. The winds were in the 65 to 75 mph range and the light and nose show was very impressive and continual and yes, our little town had the bullseye.

You are right, I frequently am praying for you when the weather is bad, but yeah...I spent the day clearing junk but there is still a lot to clear. No pictures taken toady since it was such a mess but it was annoying since things like catastrophe waitress had nine blooms and severla others that had not had clumps had them for what it was worth.

Tomorrow is another day.

Kay, I am glad that you are safe. Those straight line winds can be terrifying. Sorry that your garden took such a hit. Hang in there and don't try to do too much at once.

Nan is right. Those straight line winds are scary as heck as you well know. We went through a big hit last year when 100 mph winds swept through our area with such force that it even snapped countless telephone poles in two. Thank goodness you came out of it safely and the power is back on. It's been a deadly spring in many states this year..............Maryl

Thank you all for commenting. the garden was not too badly hurt; This morning other than a few snapped and very cooked scapes it looks quite good since it is very heavy bloom time here. I did manage to get most of the limbs picked up and piled up; just two more I have to cut smaller sections to be able to move them. Even the Squash plants have "fluffed back up. I do have to do all of the moving because my husband is unable to due to very bad back issues but I am able to since I work in the garden all the time.

We are blessed since it could have been much worse, as you know. Just a bit more work.

Wow, Kay, so glad you are ok! So much work to do now though. I hope you do not overdo it! We had expected a really bad storm to come thru Sunday afternoon, but it was not that bad. I did lose a tree, but we found it was pretty rotten, and, according to my neighbor's rain gauge, we have gotten over 10" of rain in the last week here. That probably contributed. The worse storm happened that night, lots of wind, rain, etc. that lasted 4 hr. I lost sleep, but nothing else. A friend is still without power since Sunday afternoon.

Kay - I'm so glad you are OK and your house was not harmed. Storms this Spring have caused so much death and devastation. My area has been so lucky so far. I'm glad to see Gypsy Cats rode out the hurricane force winds. So sorry about the damage to your gardens and yard.

Actually guys, my garden took more of a tangential hit. It shredded the blooms all but about 35 of the 547 shredded blooms I pulled last evening. The clematis appears okay after I reset the flattened trellls and the3 squash and cucumbers will be okay since they grow fast Most of the limbs came down in the back garden where the azaleas and such are and a few daylilieshad larger branches on them and they are rarely the ones I photograph,

the taller plants did take a hit. some plants had some snapped scapes which are a loss but a lot of them were shoved flat and I can prop them up with supports; not ideal but doable.

The garden is a riot of color today. I will cut up and remove the last two very large limbs and any of the smaller ones will be removed as I get to them. I haven't checked the shingles yet but none are n the yeard so may be okay. With so many ddying in ther areaswith the stoms this weekend ours were not so big.kay.

Wow, doesn't sound fun at all. Glad much of the damages were minimal.
