Different depth upper cabinets on each side of range hood

Looking for advice. Our cabinet drawing came back for our kitchen remodel, one side of the 36" range hood has the upper cabinets with a depth of 22" and holds a built in microwave. The other side of the hood has a standard 15" depth cabinet. The chimney wall range hood has 2 inches of space on each side of before the cabinet. Is this normal? Does it look strange to have different depth cabinets on each side of the hood? The hood will protude out about 1" on one side of the upper and 7" on the other. Can this be done and not have it look weird? Any advice is welcomed. Thanks so much.
