Installer marks on new quartz countertops.

I am currently in the process of having my kitchen redone. My contractor is behind schedule which gives me more time to scrutinize everything. Today I was wiping down the dust on the countertop and I saw these orange specks on my white with gray veins counter-top and a scratch on it. When the installers were putting the countertops in I noticed they were using orange to mark where to cut so I'm guessing that is where that is from. How do I get it off? tried Wellman quartz cleaner and it hasn't worked. They are tiny specks but bright orange so noticible. That led me to discovering a scratch on the countertop. Small, but noticible. How do you get rid of small scratch marks. It's to small for epoxy I think and I don't want to ruin the surface by trying to buff it out since I don't know what I'm doing. Any suggestions?

I'd call the installers and have them deal with the issue. If you damage the countertop, it's on you!

You should contact the installer to have them remove the orange spots and then you can discuss the scratch.

If you continue attempting to do anything yourself, your installer may blame you for using improper materials/technique and causing the problem!

Yes, definitely contact the installer and your GC if you can't resolve it with the installer.

Try rust remover. It's perfectly safe, ( my fabricator uses it ) takes off metal marks as well.

It may do nothing for a scratch.......but the marker spots should be gone.

Let me add?

In an unfinished kitchen , with brand new tops? Those tops are IMMEDIATELY covered, not left bare to be a convenient settling spot for tools, boxes and the junk associated with workers!!

Where was your contractor, and WHO was the installer that didn't clean and polish tops, and recommend covering?

Amazon...... a little bit, a few seconds, and a soft clean white rag.

I agree do not touch it this is done by the installer and your GC should be the one to deal with it.Yes it should aslo be covered.
