house number location

Hi! I am about to move in to our new home and I got 3, 10 inch house numbers. It would be ‘ 621’.

Where should I place it? Thank you so much

I would center them over the larger garage door

617’s? Sorry I am new here

617 -- is the neighbor -- though those look smaller than 10" so not sure you have room to do the same vertical orientation.

    A few suggestions.

I was thinking it all may be a slope issue based on bottom of steps to bottom of garage door...

The home is not finished yet, drive way will be poured soon. I didn’t take possession yet

I agree they should be centered over the garage door. I think putting them next to the front door will not be visible enough from the street.

Which direction will cars usually approach the house from? If from the right, perhaps centered above the front porch. It’s close to the neighbor’s number so easy to find. If from the left, Then centered above the garage door and below the garage windows. That’s probably better in any case. (Just curious, in Canada?)

There might be an issue with visibility at night. I'd put them above the light on the right side of the garage and if nighttime visibility becomes an issue I'd consider getting exterior lights on the garage that shine both up and down.

    Numbers not scaled correctly..

Our numbers are on a post at the top of our rather long circular drive. We had been here about 8 years before I realized they were nowhere on the house.

I ordered plaque style numbers 16" wide, height of each number is 6". Plaque black and outlined in brass, numbers (there are 4) are brass. It's mounted above the built in mailslot also brass at our front facing garage. More visible there than our recessed slate front entrance and below a light that is on all night, every night.

While still possible, I couldn't find evidence (old nail or screw holes, any outlines of having had something that had been mounted) anywhere on the front of this house that might indicate the house itself had been numbered. From old photos, it appears to have been the same dark brown color since built in 1955.

Do you have landscaping or something planned that might obscure house numbers and can they be near a light at night? You do not want them not clearly visible to a fire truck or aid car in the dark middle of the night...

Where do people look for house numbers? At the front door. Stack 'em next to the front door or put them above the door if and only if you can illuminate or backlight them. Amazon, UPS, Fedex, and USPS will thank you for big, visible numbers.

My house numbers are on the garage, at the upper right, and my garage is oriented the same as yours.

If you have curbside mailboxes, don't forget to put additional numbers on the box or the pole - both sides. This actually is the easiest way for people to find your house when driving.

    On the front door.
