It's rainy and chilly here today. Bob and I had just enough time to take a quick run around the garden before the rain started. We photographed one named variety and several seedlings.

Curious Cutie had its first flower open today.

We have been dabbling in striped daylilies. I say 'dabbling' because we haven't gone out and purchased the higher priced striped ones although there are several I would like to have. Starman from Rich Howard would be on the top of my list. I did buy some seeds from striped plants from Mike Holmes two years ago and today the first seedlings opened. These are from Gopher Stripes X Panning for Gold.

I will save the pollen from these and put them on Explosion in the Paint Factory and the seedlings from Explosion. Those seedlings were crossed with Ruby Grandeur in hopes of improving the color of Explosion and getting stripes. I got the improved color but not the stripes.

This is the prettiest diploid we have gotten so far--a small flower with a rich velvety red and slightly darker band. It is Indelible Blood X A Little Crabby.

Running for the Border X (Lavender Oasis X Tet. Rose F. Kennedy) is a select with a nice scape.

This is Spacecoast Velvet Valentine X (Wolverine X On Your Knees You Will Find Him)
