I need to see your space and I usually like odd numbers the pendants are small enough to do 3 but have you seen this lit up and how are they going to hang above the iland since I see no info as to the length of the cord and chain. They all need to hang evenly even though the ceiling is not flat I would aslo think teice about a fixture where you see the buld and the glass is not clear. Seedy glass tends to cast weird shadows and not great in a kitchen

Thank you for your response, the pendants comes with 120” of chain and 180” of wire. I will bring the ceiling slope up with the electrician. I’m a bit bummed about the seedy glass casting weird shadows. I love these lights. I have not seen them lit but will go to the lighting store to check it out. Still thinking about the 3 pendants vs 2. The pendant appears very large in person, maybe because of the 21.5” height.

12" is too small for the size you're explaining. 2 is ridiculous, 3 still isn't enough.

For a visual, my pendants are about 12". my island is 4' across. barely.

These are Hood Pendants. I wanted to use similar. but these come in at 14-16" I believe? too large for my island. On this island size (8-9') two is perfect.

I love this look. this is more of the size you want. you could do 2 if you like, but the 3 is nice

these are small pendants, this island is prob 7' or so. any longer and it would look out of proportion

vaulted ceiling. these are wider pendants. With taller ceilings, you need more heft.

A good rule of thumb is to use two pendant lights for islands shorter than 6 feet and three for islands longer than 6 feet. Of course, you’ll also need to consider the size of your pendants. For example, you could use three small (10-inch or less) pendants above a 6-foot island, while the same space should only accommodate two larger (15-18-inch) pendants.

To determine the optimal width of your fixtures, subtract 12 inches from the width of your island to get your maximum diameter. For example, if you have a 3-foot island, you’ll subtract 12 from 36, giving you a 24-inch maximum.

You may have already determined the optimal size of your kitchen island pendants, but keep in mind that you’ll want to keep as much space between the pendants as the width of the fixture itself. For example, if the diameter of your pendant is 20 inches, you’ll need to space the fixtures so there’s at least 20 inches between each pendant (at their widest point). Keep in mind that 18 inches is the minimum space you’ll want between pendants, regardless of size. So for 10-inch pendants, keep the spacing at or round 18 inches.

Additionally, you should always leave at least half the diameter of the pendants at either end of the island. So if your pendant is 16 inches wide, you should leave at least 8 inches from the end of the island to the edge of the outermost pendant.

Thank you for the information, I guess I was afraid 3 lights would be too much for the island. All the walls are coming down and I will have 230” of cabinets on the left wall and an 96” island 40” off the wall of kitchen cabinets.

that's a large space. why worry about pendants at this stage?? please, wait until cabs/island are in , and all those walls are down. trust me, you'll change your mind.
