Very nice! The Halimiocistus is one of my favored shrubs for certain conditions. The only garden I could grow one in was at least a decade ago but I do spec them for client's' gardens every so often. Not the most commonly available plant, however.

It just doesn't get hot enough here in summer to make sense with 95% of the crape myrtles on offer. And they too are not common in area nurseries, either. Who wants a flowering shrub that may or may not ever flower?

My new garden doesn't get enough sun to make the Halimiocistus very happy. But I DO favor that dark purple foliage! My BLE choice is Pittosporum County Park Dwarf but I am seriously considering a new dark leafed hydrangea, Eclipse.

Well it definitely gets plenty hot here for these two, Pam! My Purely Purple bloomed like crazy last summer and should again.

I've been tempted by Hydrangea Eclipse as well, but all of my macrophyllas look rough from the erratic spring freezes, and will be blooming later than typical. I think I need to take a mac break!

All of my macs were planted in the ground so did not make the move with me. And I could use some big, bold foliage, green or purple. I am just a bit concerned that every photo I've seen of Eclipse shows pink flowers - I can't have that!! Literature indicates the flower color can be altered as with most other macs but I wonder what, if any, impact that will have on the foliage color,

I know, right?! And would purple or even blue flowers look good with that foliage? Hmm.

For bold, dark foliage I'm really loving Canna 'Australia' and Canna 'Tropicanna Black', and I'm really intrigued by Canna 'Intrigue'-- but I already have eight Cannas!

Rockrose is new to me, but it is spendid. Luck or not, you pulled off a great look.

Pam, I purchased an Eclipse last week at Wells Medina. The foliage is what sold me, it's flowers have reddish throats that fade to white, so there is a bit of pink, and I know your aversion :o), but for me it's ok as it is offset by the dark purple leaves.

EDIT: My dyslexia kicked in and I got that backward. It has a white throat that blends into a reddish pink edge.

How much sun does the Halimiocistus Merrist Wood Cream need to look as nice as yours @artinnaturez8b ?

This section of my garden (I call it the Desert Garden) receives over 10 hours of sun and is my sunniest spot. It's neighbors are Manzanitas, Cistus, Hebes, Ozothamnus, Salvia greggii, Myrtus communis, and the aforementioned Crape Myrtle. But also the rather thirsty Hydrangea quercifolia Munchkin (irrigated), because my wife wanted to see it every day when coming or going.

My sunniest spots get maybe 7 hours in high summer.
