Are jackson&perkins roses good?

I have never ordered roses from jackson&perkins, but they're selling some purplish supposedly disease resistant roses:Blushing Lavender, Marvelouss, and La Di Da. Has anybody tried these roses, how do they preform in sun, how is the disease tolerance?

    Hi there !!

I know they have a super sale going on now but I think for bare roots this late in the game , in particular from them I would probably pass . I’ve seen some pics circulating of moldy slimy black bare roots being received lately . However they do stand by their warranty , and will give you a credit if they don’t work out . Early this spring I received Big Ben bare root and it was lovely ! Really nice plant already growing well . Then a couple months later my own root potted rose came but promptly died by the end of the week no idea why. I think they are fabulous if you order for early spring shipping but buyer beware now . Just my opinion and experience.

I have been very happy with my J&P exclusive, Double Easy Orange, a Carruth rose. It looks even better this year and is a continuous bloomer for months on end. My rose was a grafted bareroot. Diane

I do late sale bareroots in very large containers to grow out for Fall planting. It still works out fine.

Most of JP products are fine. A few duds in their selection, but mostly good roses to grow.

I'll let you know. I took the bait on the Super Sale 1/2 off. Waiting for my 2 qt. Fiji. Just ordered on Friday 5/31. $37.10 delivered. Used pay pal just in case.

JP sent me a free rose for ordering some of their clearance roses. The freebie was 'Mardi Gras'. Not bad for a freebie.

I received a bareroot own root from J&P in mid March and it was fine and is growing and blooming good already...

I haven't purchased any J&P for a long time, but years ago the quality used to be quite good.

I really love Pope John Paul - the fragrance is incredible and the flowers have a great vase life

It's so great hearing about new roses! I would never consider some of these unless I saw them here.

I bought a bare root Disneyland rose that arrived in March and it was super healthy and large.

So jealous - I keep missing out on Disneyland

Thank you so much Diane! Vaporvac, i saw Like No Other on someone’s instagram and then searched the hashtag #likenootherrose on instagram and it looked consistently very full and vividly magenta. I don’t think the J&P photos do it justice at all and I would have never bought it if I hadn’t seen it on Instagram :)

    welcome..

you should adjust your acct name.. to reflect where you are... or include it in every post....

in many areas .... it is too late to plant roses in mother earth.. and hope they can take what july and august will do to them..

in that case .... you would pot them and keep them in full bright shade.. and plant them in early fall... mid september or so..

proper potting would be a new post in the rose and perennial forums.. i wouldnt bother the shrub forum. .. potting is an art in itself.. and never forget.. the most important thing in the pot.. is the media.. not the plants...

if you are rather far north.. pr the pnw... just plant them.. and protect them from direct hot sun for a few weeks...

25 years ago or so.. JP was my primary supplier.. ordering 25 or so per year...

Well, I just unpackaged my 2 qt. own root Fiji. Ordered Fri. 5/31, and arriving Fri. 6/7, means from time of order to day received was one week, good service! It is very well grown, apparently quite healthy, fully leafed out but dead headed of its presumed 5 spring flush blooms, going by the pruning cuts. The size of the bush is equivalent to Heirloom's gallon size bushes, and certainly larger than High Country Roses' bushes that I have received.

Packaging was A #1, meant to survive very rough handling with ease. I am very pleased with the price of $37.10, for this half off sale bush, but its regular price of about $65.00, presale price including shipping and tax would be very high for a bush this size.
