I rather detest sliding closet doors. While bifold doors allow ready access to most parts of a closet, their sliding cousins are cumbersome, jump off their tracks, pinch fingers, and (for us) are a barrier to an organized home. When we redid our flooring, we decided to go door-less while considering our options. At the time I didn't have a great plan for an alternative, so we just lived with open closets. And.. they worked. Surprisingly well! But they were ugly.

I decided to do a grand overhaul, starting with main closet. The partition between coat and broom closet needed to be extended, as one day I would like to add a small bifold door to the broom closet. Then it was on to mudding, patching, painting, and applying wallpaper. The final touches included sanding, staining, and installing cleats and wood shelves, a new closet rod, and some hooks. It's now a beautiful, functional space that makes an impact while making my door-less design look intentional.

And since I had extra wallpaper, I decided the linen closet also needed a glow-up! It's now a happy, utilitarian space that makes me smile when I walk by.
