Clumps and Groups After the Storms

We had a pretty bad storm yesterday evening that knocked my power out for more than five hours and flooded the streets. There's quite a bit of debris from neighbors' trees in my yard, and most of the stalks on my Annabelle hydrangea are down on the ground. Several branches of my Chaste tree are bent over too. Most of the dayliles withstood the strong winds and torrential downpours. I found only a few scapes broken or bent down to the ground. We're bracing for more strong storms today.

Tully Mars X Venetian Pools - I like the pattern and the plant habits of this seedling, but the petal color this season has been so tan. Last year the first blooms were more peachy without the brown tones.

Seems like you are dealing with your own group if plagues of Egypt this year!!

Sensational Heart really explodes with that color. Love the height you get on Perseus Sandals seedling. Great photo of the blooms on Tully Mars seedling. Such a blaze lives up to its name!

Beautiful color on Such a Blaze, and I love Sensational Heart & the Tully Mars seedling. I used to have Venetian Pools, but it did not survive one summer.

I would never know you had a storm since those pics look terrific. Nice group of blooms. I like the pattern on Tully Mars X Venetian Pools. Clown Parade always makes me smile.

Love the clump shots today! Looks like Perseus X is putting on a good show for you this season….suitcase plant?

Such a Blaze caught my eye, what a great red.

Tully Mars X Has great pattern but I agree about the color, not sure I would like it in my garden.

Yes Sherry, the Perseus' Sandals kid is a suitcase plant. It's a semi-evergreen that I hope will do well in the North. Such a Blaze, also semi-evergreen, is going too.

Nancy - I still have some fans of Venetian Pools, but I guess its in too much shade now to bloom. I don't think it's scaped in at least four years.

Everything seems lushly green! And many of the clumps stand out nicely with good height. Clown Parade here is not always so well above the foliage. Perseus Sandals deserves the trip north.

Beautiful clumps and beautiful post. Wow! I already miss Seedling Perseus Sandals X Jumping Jack Flash since it bloomed its last bloom yesterday. It is such a good bloomer and so attractive that I so enjoyed it and got compliments from everyone who saw it. Tully Mars X Venetian Pools is very pretty. White Tooth has pretty babies. Clown Parade is always a favorite but Sensational Heart is just the winner except for the PD seedling.

Mantis - I think this is the first time Clown Parade has had scapes so tall, They are usually well above the foliage though.

Kay - Thanks for the good reports on the Perseus Sandals seedling. We are getting so much good rain lately, I'm hopeful it will have several rebloom scapes this time. I hope it will rebloom for you. Sensational Heart does make a pretty clump. It has 40-inch tall scapes again. It's only registered with 32-inch scapes.

I am glad your storm wasn't any worse than it was. It keeps raining here off and on, but the rain doesn't amount to much and we haven't had much in the way of a storm.

Such a Blaze is a beautiful color. I love a red daylily with a watermark too. I really like Perseus' Sandals seedling. I hope it does well for you in Indy. The Venetian Pools seedling has such a nice pattern. I do understand your reluctance to register it if the base petal color is not good. The one thing I dislike about many patterned daylilies is the muddy petal color. Salty Dog looks to have nice clean color.
