Recent Daylily Blooms

I didn't have time to photograph much today because I was preparing for a garden visit with our own KY Nancy and a mutual KY friend of ours. The ladies brought their shovels and dug several plants to take home today, and they gave me a list of ones they'd like after bloom time is over. What a fun visit and lunch we had!

These photos are from Wed. and Thurs. of this week.

Blue Over You is the only daylily I have with a true blue eye. It's a suitcase daylily.

Believe in Angels is a nice dormant cream white that would probably do well in the North.

Blue Eclipse found a new home in KY today.

Blue Jay Tapestry's eye sometime looks Navy blue, and sometimes just purple. Registered as a 5.5 inch bloom on a 32-inch scape, it's always been in the 4-inch range here and never taller than 25 inches.

And now for some seedlings!

Confessions of a Hemaholic X Entwined in the Vine #3 - Most of my seedlings have not improved since last year, but this one has. Last year it had a 6.5-inch bloom on a 20-inch scape and 6 buds. This year it has an 8-inch bloom on 34-inch scapes and 14 buds. I really like the color and hope it will improve even more in the future.

Seedling "Nadine" has improved height this year, but bud count is about the same.

Diver Down X Seedling

Seedling X Bubblegum Queen - This one had lateral branching and 18 buds last year. This year there's no lateral branching and a bud count of only 11 or 12. Maybe the drought was to blame.

I live just about an hour away. We had a wonderful time with Debra, such an amazing garden. I was so thrilled to see her seedlings in person and they look even better in person!

The Confessions seedling looks very promising with that kind of height. How far away does Nancy live?

So nice the two of you had a good visit and some daylilies got a new home.

Great to see the Confessios of a Hemaholic X is doing well, so pretty. I like the Buble gum Queen seedling, it gets extra points because its a bitone. The the color of Nadine.

Loving the Nadine seedling color. The Diver Down seedling is also pretty. Scape height and bloom size on the Confession seedling does sound promising.

How wonderful that you gals can meet up and spend the day together! Debra, I've been enjoying your posts, especially your seedlings. You have your work cut out for you to decide which ones to take with you when you move! (And potting them all up to bring with you....!)

Beautiful photos! I love the Nadine seedling and the Bow Tie Affair seedling. And the Diver Down seedling catches my eye.

I can see why you would take Blue Over You with you--so pretty!

Nice that you got help and a visit with Nancy. I'm sure you had a wonderful day together and you were able to unload some of your daylilies at the same time. Gorgeous photos as always.

They are all very pretty, but the seedlings take the cake. Confessions of a Hemaholic X Entwined in the Vine #3 is a beauty. I like the color and the form. Core Values X Bowtie Affair is a beautiful bloom. Diver Down is such a good one,;hopefully your seedling with do as well. Bubblegum Queen is a delicate beauty. All I can say about this one is if it takes after Gypsy Queen it will be a fantastic plant.It is a beauty besides since that is one of my tyes, but GQ just is a bloom machine. arolina Pale Face X Dearest Valentine beibng a nearly white (from the picture) is a good thing. lovely post, Debra.

Celeste - I'm thinking now of only potting the evergreen ones I will need to keep in pots and house in either a garage or basement the first year. I think I'm going to take the rest bare root in large tubs or buckets. That saves a lot of money on potting soil and pots, and conserves space. Deciding what to take - both seedlings and registered daylilies - is a major challenge - maybe one of the hardest things ever in my life.
