inside door mat

Hi everyone, inside door mats are generally not wide enough for my 72 inch door. I got this mat to trap the dirt from outside. Does the color / style of the mat fit the decor of the foyer? Appreciate your honest feedback.

    sorry. I don't like it. thats a fabulous space and you aren't taking advantage of it.

    let me show you some photoshops. use your imagination because my skills aren't great!


    Lose that tall light? in the corner. you need some greenery back here. great spot for potted plants.

    This is the type of items you need to work w/that beautiful door. the natural woods, textured items like the jute/sisal rug, basket, tree, vases, black/white, etc


    The current art you have on the wall does not wor well. try large black/white pics or art similar to this. or, put that wood console in place of the bench and do a mirror or art. bring in the textured vases, plants, etc




    you could do an antique piece on that far wall, mirror, plants, etc.


    do a similar rug w/these colors (Try Loloi on Wayfair) and instead of that bench,

    do a black one,, (and notice how they did the artwork above the bench)


    I like this rug too. try looking for a black and white flatweave rug.

    can you do some type of light?

    or even something like this black setee against the left wall.


    another version of that but w/the prints on the first wall, no bench, tall tree and a natural wood chest w/some lamps


    if you just want a bench, try this w/the rug, maybe these baskets on the wall, a pendant light






    this console is from World Market. bring in the other accesories and the textured rug.



    If you want some color, try something like this w/this foyer light. the bench you have is fine w/some other art


    more greenery/southwestern vibe


    or, do a bench w/actual art, some color, similar rug, light


    love this door. however, your panels are too skimpy. they need to reach the left side corner, and come out at least another foot on the right


    and something a bit heavier so they don't sag.

    Here. perfect example of how to do your curtains. copy this


    see the dotted line? this is the width. you want the panels past it.


    photoshopped drapes onto yours. rug is Denim from Loloi


    maybe a heavier rod and go up a bit higher


    no curtains at all, do something like this in the left corner




    Try PB Seaton Textured cotton panels. they come in diff styles, textures

      I get it. Keeping debris from tracking through the house is tough. It looks good to me.

      The door is really impressive and attractive. The rest of the decor seems slightly generic and so does the rug. So I do think the rug goes with the rest of the space. But none of it is as impressive as the door itself.

      Why not a really good mat outside . I love Chilewich for out doors they get hosed off when dirty I have one on the entry deck for thye dogs when they are at the doggie door it catches 80 % of the yuck and then just a nice washable rug inside the door that works with our decor . Nice looking entry but needs a bit of work to be its best . Start by lowering the art the center of them should be at eye level The bench is nice but needs abit of color for sure. If that is a real plant then move it where it gets light and if fake move it to the trash.The lighting is awful look for a fab chandeier for that space and IMO another huge piece of art on that back wall

      Far too large, depth wise. You want the door width covered, not the entire entrance hall. Mats that butt to the entrance door don’t look right to my eye either. Get the proportions right, and then plan on having two/three in rotation. If the object is to trap dirt and moisture, make sure the mats are washable.

      There are so many beautiful washable rugs now. I think the one you have is too similar to the art, the bench and the door, in that they all have geometric shapes outlined in black (or dark). The art isn't actually outlined but the way it is hung creates outlines via the shadows. There is no vibrancy in anything there. I would find a rug that is beautiful on its own. Do you LOVE the art? I think you can have some color or even just some different patterns and still have a calm and soothing look, which may be what you are going for. I love the lighter draperies that Beth posted.

      Yes your new carpet goes with the rest of the space. Why is no one saying take the curtains down? That is the oddest thing I've ever seen. I've seen curtains on sliders but not front doors. Your door looks into a wall. Privacy is not an issue. Security might be but not privacy or light control needed. Sorry but they make no sense. It is too bad that such a dramatic door can't really be enjoyed from the inside. No way to stand back and appreciate it. My MIL had a front door that opened to a wall. She added a cabinet/closet to a 100 year old home. It gave them the privacy they wanted so I get it but I don't get the curtains.

      I like your rug because it extends the outdoors indoors.


      Think about hanging a large mirror on the far wall, same finish as the door, to reflect light from the outside. Check out Ballard or Pottery Barn for a great mirror.




      Or a handsome floating shelf with an arched mirror over it. (This one's round.)

      Yes, lower your art so it's 57"-60" at the center of the art work to the floor--eye level.
