Design help wanted

I am replacing my driveway and sidewalk with pavers and a 6' wide paver sidewalk. When I do this, I want to redesign my front yard to replace most of my grass, add a water feature area and a table/chair area. I'd like some advice on shape and size of walkway and flower beds. I want the beds to be low maintenance/low water plants.

Is it safe to put planting beds against the house? We live in an area with little rain and almost no termite concerns. However, we do have mole/vole problems. Should I do a continuous line of beds or different rounded ones?

How wide should the beds along the house be? We don't have space limits, but I want very little maintenance. With a 6' sidewalk, I'd like a balanced size.

Any suggestions on what I should put between the driveway and grow window? I'd like it to have visual interest, since it's one of the first things you see when you drive up.

What are your thoughts on making the patio step twice as wide? It's currently 18' wide, but I'm debating making it 3' and extending it about 12" on either side to create visual interest.

Right now, everything is straight. I'm wanting to add some curves to give grace and movement. Any suggestions on where or how to do that?
