Paint Design Dilemma Living Room

Flooring completed-Please help me with the wall color!

Everyone has been very helpful with ideas, but I need help again. Progress of hardwood flooring (sanding original entryway flooring and laying new shown below. The sofa is navy, the black chair will be removed. I will be using the rug pictured to begin with, but what color for the walls??? I know whites are very popular, but would prefer to find something that complements the wall going down the stairway(the wall (with the picture, not the cocoa brown near the banister)

I would do this on the walls cut 25% It looks fabulous with woods and your rug and the FP It is BM NOT SW

Oh my stars - the floor! 🤯 I bet you are super excited.

With the rug and your kitch cabinets you have several options for hue.

Where do you want to be in color space: greens, blues, beige, greige, buttercream, creamy.

I should be excited, but more like stressed because I have NO skills for decorating. I appreciate your input. Since I associate white with "apartment ready for new tenant" and grey is the saddest color ever, I'm going to avoid those (despite being popular) & will go for the buttercream (beautiful AND delicious ;) The house needs lightening up!
