I would love some advice, and also an explanation of what actually happened. I have a 60” double vanity that was supposed to go on a floor to ceiling tiled wall. The vanity has no overhang/lip anywhere on it. It’s not getting tight enough to the wall and there’s a gap. My contractor suggested a backsplash and I said no way. Now he wants to remove the top and get a custom top that has a little over hang at the back. I can only assume the wall was not totally flat and no one took this into consideration when the tile work was done. They want to remove a few tiles and file down the wall behind so they are more flush and allow the vanity to get closer to the wall. They also want to do a new top that creates a lip at the back. I’d like to know if anyone has a better solution or if someone can explain what was done wrong and how it should have been addressed in the first place.
