Born to Reign seems to be a cultivar that has good and bad years. Mine was always splotchy, but I know that Debra reported some very good years. Sweet Almond Mint I see is a Pierce.

Nancy, I am sure you have lots blooming! I hope the deer are not going to be a nuisance. Desert Solitaire is interesting. Doesn’t it irritate you when one performs like Irish Mayhem? Shark Infested Waters is showing those teeth!

Wow, nice grouping of blooms. Thundercat is one of those daylilies that can have a very good bloom season or just so so.

Wonderful photos! Born to Reign is the best performing Emmerich I have. It multiplies super well here, while the others are mostly slow multipliers, if they multiply at all. I like Desert Solitaire in your photo as well as when I saw it in your garden. As for Buffalo Thunder, it looks pretty good. So many of the dark purples don't photograph as dark as they really are, and the photos always show little spots that you don't see with the naked eye. So sorry deer got most of Bubblegum Twist. I like Forever and For Always and Shark Infested Waters.

Nancy, your supposed Smoky Mountain Sunrise is Rocky Mountain Sunrise, an intro from Eric Simpson. It is well budded, but it is quite short.

Thank you for the ID of my daylily, Nancy! I remember meaning to look up and see if possibility of Rocky rather than smoky, but never did. I think I dismissed the idea thinking in my area Smoky would make more sense, LOL. I have had Hello Heartstrings at least 10 years. The color is so different, I like it. NewYorkRita sent it to me.

Mantis, I got my Born to Reign from Debra, mine is rarely splotchy, unless there is a foggy morning. I guess I can see the fog doing it, but you would think dew would too. That photo does look a bit splotchy, but I think it is the reflection of dew. Buffalo Thunder looks even worse, but to my eye that day, the color was perfect.

Kate, it is very irritating about Irish Mayhem. I was thinking it is supposed to be 40" or so, but just looked it up and only 30", but it has a long, long way to get there. I am going to move it this fall, maybe it will do better elsewhere.

Julia, This is my 3rd full year for Thundercat, but so far every year it was just great. Now it will be bad next year since I said that, LOL!

Debra, I am impressed by Emmerich's Let the Sea Resound. I lost 1 fan shortly after I planted it last year, but the other fan has gone to 4. Of course, the summer is not over and it is still blooming. If I lose any it is usually after bloom.

Brad, Forever and for Always is a pretty flower and blooms well enough, if it would just increase for me! It went from 3 fans to 1 the year I got it, 2021. Nice healthy fan, but it refuses to grow. It may try a new spot for next year. Thanks for the deer sympathy. I always felt sorry for the people with deer problems, but am especially sympathetic now. Fortunately, they have not bothered the daylilies in over a week. My son's dog was staying with me, and one morning the deer were heading over. She spotted them, gave them a good talking to, and they changed their mind. They have not dined here since. Was it still the dryer sheets, they added Vapor Rub, or her discouragment, I am not complaining.

Kay, I love Desert solitaire, and it is a great bloomer. Just got it spring 2023, but it is doing well. Faberge Easter does not do much for me, but it is a really fast grower. I thought it died last summer, but apparently it just went dormant to gather its strentgh. Last year when it bloomed there were 2 fans, it came up in spring with at least 6 fans, and has bloomed really well. I am going to give it another year to see if it grows on me. HA!

Desert Solitaire got my attention. I looked it up and the accent color is either lavender or pink in some pictures. Yours looks more on the pink side. Hanson's description is no help..........Buffalo Thunder was one I wanted very badly for years but the price never seemed to go down to my pocketbook level. I was told it was because it was more of a hybridizers daylily then just display..It sure is pretty with that white edge......Love the pattern on Faberge Easter...............Maryl

Maryl, Desert Solitaire might be considered sort of a pink, to me in person it looks more like a rusty red. If it were that color on the entire petal I would hate it, but I like the look just edged with it. I got Buffalo Thunder in a trade. The person who I got it from said it was a very slow multiplier. I received a single fan in the spring, and it has added 2 more small fans. Will it hang on to them during the heat though? I guess time will tell.

Thank you Loree7! I thought at first, til I compared that it was Parrots of the Caribbean. Very same coloring and look, short stature, same bloom time. When I looked closely I could see small differences. So happy Nancy came up with the name!

Nancy, I somehow missed this post, glad i check back often. i do like Desert Solotaire……its different and it appeals to me. I like Hello Heartstrings too, a delicate looking bloom in warm colors.
