Peak is winding down, new faces emerge

It’s hard to believe peak is waning. Lots of blooms left but the lates are beginning to bloom so that marks the calendar on peak week! Rebloom scapes are rapidly emerging. One thing I have documented over the years is that by this time in the season my dreaded bugs have cycled through their breeding periods and I have a reprieve on the late bloomers.

Mean Green-no rain for a while and the foliage is showing the stress

Magic of Oz

Christmas Mimosas is just beginning

Late Starter is aptly named

Caberet Cabernet is just beginning and truly is just that dark

I am really liking Money Maker

Perry and His Harem is just beginning

Bright and Morning Star is new-I am adjusting to this look

Maryl had asked how the green in Money Maker held up. This is the same bloom as above in yesterday’s atrocious heat with heat index of 99. This photo was taken at 6:30 pm

Clownfish is winding down after a good bloom season

Blue Dolphin

Fires of Varanisi is very red

Passing Fancy is just beginning and usually will have 2 or 3 rebloom cycles

Tahiti Sweetie is one of two lates in the new roadside bed-those are the only two that survived the bug onslaught

Money Maker is my favorite. What a champ that it held it's color in the high heat! I'm really drawn to the colors and shape of Bright Morning Star. All the clumps are impressive. of those Fires of Varanisi is my favorite.

Christmas Mimosa ismy favorite today, a yellow! Your photo makes it look like it is a bitone…is that what you see? I also like Bright Morning Star…….it has an interesting look, nice contrast in the garden. So many nice clump shots. Its hard to believe you a bit past peak already.

Wow, these are stunning groups. Magic Of Oz really washed out its color. Extreme heat? Bright Morning Star is unique and I like it. Very different so point for that. Christmas Mimosas is a good bright spot in the garden. Tahiti Sweetie always did good for me in NYS and even here in WV. Lovely photo of it in your garden.

Christmas MImosas is really pretty. I always love Tahiti Sweetie, and Mean Green is a favorite. I like Late Starter. Magic of Oz looks nice too. Pretty post, Kate.

Debra, Bright and Morning Star is a different look and it is another that takes a couple of days to open. However, it opens cleanly so that is a plus. In addition to looking great, Money Maker has multiplied well so that makes it a winner-winner!

Sherry, I have never thought about Christmas Mimosas being bitone but the pucture does look that way! I will have to pay more attention to future blooms.

Julia, yes, I think heat and humidity have washed out the colors on Magic of Oz. By the end of the day it is almost white. I absolutely remember that you had Tahiti Sweetie in NY-I think that is when I put it on my want list!

Kay, thanks for your comments. We have many of the same so you can appreciate them in your garden as well!

I like Money Maker, but I really like Bright and Morning Star for that delicate, different look. Caberet Cabernet is so very dark.

Nancy, Bright and Morning Star is growing on me. The different ones usually take some time to absorb!!

Bright Morning Star jumps out at me. Reminds me of its Norris heritage with similar colors to his Remake Pink. Perfect form in your picture........Another great picture is your Christmas Mimosa. Of course the color is the most appealing part to me.......Thanks for the information on Money Maker. It has been hot here too and a couple of the new ones for me have already written their one way ticket out because of the fade........Maryl
