Hearth Room Help

Attached is a photo of the furniture I am thinking of ordering from Arhaus for my hearth room. Attached is a photo of my room and also a photo of the stores rendering of the furniture in the space. Pay no attention to the light fixture above my table. I’m planning on changing.
Thoughts?

    Much better! Love that sofa.

Jan, Trying to get “ON THE ROAD to harmony” May I ask what wood tone would look best for a tv console in the family room? You suggested some, but not sure which will coordinate with the Agreeable Grey walls and a coffee table.
I see the conversations where Grey is out! ) my whole house is agreeable Grey and not my choice.
You also suggested the round coffee table with the black rod iron legs. What would coordinate well with a tv console.
    The stools are gone!

    Michelle,

You are obsessing on the deadly "Match" word.

The TV console can be virtually ANY wood tone but the gray you do not like!

This below? Arhaus cabinet, Bernhardt cocktail......is called "plays very nicely together"

    Is "complementary"

It keeps the best size, best shape, neutral materials of the cocktail table, ( stone and metal ) and that cocktail table plays nicely with all else in all three areas, adds no upholstery to the space which has plenty in the sectional and its eventual toss pillows.

    The point is?

I gave you ARHAUS as possibility to use up c.r.e.d.i/t/s

All of these below can work. All are complementary. Yes.....EVEN the "Denim Ash" especially with the rug!

    Williams Sonoma

    Four Hands, Walnut

    Room and Board, walnut:

    Crate and barrel "driftwood"

Did you get the sectional "placed" with some permanence in mind. ? Did you take a picture of that as previously asked? I don't think so.....

Is it going to face the window? Did you order a single leather Arhaus chair for the great room , which IS your best option? The one you like!

    Lower right........corner here below

    Denim ash , williams sonoma

Here......... four HANDS, LOWER RIGHT CORNER

What have you accomplished, chosen , ordered........moved......in the last week?

Hi Jan, i posted a photo last week of the sofa being moved to the window. i left a good 12” behind the sofa to the windows. but not sure i need to. The distance from the sofa side to the back of the counter stools is 4’ . Those are going back to Arhaus.

My husband and i were out of town and came back with Covid. Mine went into Bronchitis and i have bee out of commission. i am just getting on my feet.

    Ohhhh Sorry about the Covid/B

Ask me? My answer hasn't changed. Use what you have, most effectively

    The Branson to the hearth.......

Any of any of the consoles previous.

Add the Walsh to the great room and hubby is thrilled

Me? Any of the aforementioned t v media, two Branson to hearth, add the Walsh glider and tada.

Use WHAT you have effectively, while considering what you need.....

I keep giving you the same "answers": )

    Thank you, again!

i hesitate in asking another question, but…

We just had our king size West Elm bed 58” tall in dark grey distressed velvet delivered today. We have not had a bed in 4 months!

The nightstands are St. Martin in the color Haze.

The mattress comes next week. I will be looking for two lamps and bedding Do you have any suggestions?

    Thank you!

    What have we learned??

"How do I want the room to FEEL"???

You have pattern on the curtain panels.

Go do some surfing. Look at what makes a bedroom look great when you enter. It is the elephant in the room., and you dress that elephant: )!

What's the "base" in both above? It's white

Whats YOUR accent? You tell me.: )

    Start with a base.........AND ADD!!!!

START WITH a pair of lamps that work with anything!

Whether duvet, and filler or comforter set? In what color? White is easy, there are others....

That's on you to put you in it

So sorry to hear you are both sick! Yes, definitely take care of yourselves. You family room still looks great! Good move on keeping sofa from covering vents. The lamp looks good too!

    Bedroom looks beautiful too!

Make sure to use up those Arhaus credits. Make sure of TV position you want and measure to make sure of console size.

I'll add. At some point, you have to make your home yours.

    This

I don't want anyone jealous!!. The only reason for it? Welll. I'll admit to a bit of a pity party for the op here and letting herself get taken to the Arhaus cleaners. But I have been in a bit of refrain / hold back from more guidance!

Especially when the guidance is being reiterated over and over, or worse? Not read!

I'm forgiving this last ( sham ) one due to Covid Brain.

It's your home. There is no single thing you buy that can't be returned. Somewhere between wild abandon/ throwing poo on a wall, and fear of the click and the selection? You have to find that sweet spot. None of us, no not even me...are you. And none of us, will live there.

Go back on a designer search. ...........one designer you tried, does not that mean NO designer can pick up where I left off. Right?

    Last?

Use an Ipad or laptop. Ditch the phone app!

You can't possibly access all of the now near 300 comments in this thread on the phone!! ( "see more comments" will appear, and you click on that ) .

You need to Houzz via Safari, Firefox, or another real browser with an adequate size monitor.. The phone is no. It's why you keep getting lost......

Hi Jan, Thank you for supporting me in this effort. When i started this peocess on Houzz, i never expected it to grow into 300 comments. I hope through all of this it has helped others

I apologize for all the questions and all my indecisiveness.

i have been looking for an interior designer now for weeks. i have contacted at least 7, all of which are too busy until after the first of the year. i have asked everyone ii know.

i woukd love to find an interior designer in my area! if you know of anyone or where else i can look, please let me know.

Thanks again for everything you have done to help me ! You tryly are a special person!!! ❤️

    @ Michelle Moss

You have to shake off the dust of the earlier mistakes. You have nine of the ten keys to a great house, right above in the midst of the 300 comments. The tenth key is YOU. You have links you like. If not that link? You want close but different?

    You breathe and ask

"What do I like about what she said to do......?" What little different thing/effect/ etc do I want?

And you tailor it to y.o.u.

Even a designer in your locale, is NEVER going as far as what you have above , here. NOT GOING TO SPEND A HUNDRED HOURS DRAGGING you to a result. As I said earlier?

If you were a live client? I'd have cut you off, well before I had to hand you the overblown bill!!! that makes you cry. Anything less would be me stealing from you!

You are not going to die/take with you anything you buy. We all go out empty handed: )

Even the mistakes you made are not permanent life altering tragedy. Get ON with it! It's a house. Not your entire life.

Hi Jan, Found these lamps yesterday. Similar to the ones you suggested. Love the lamp but wondering if it might be too small for the nightstand.

Re coffee table: follow kcooz07's suggestion with painter's tape and cardboard. This way you can see it and do a test walk around it. The main thing is making sure everyone can easily get in and out of seating around it.

I am still loving how everything is coming together!

FYI, I have been watching house tours on YouTube and it turns out a lot of the ones I've seen have Arhaus furniture! The owners all said the white performance fabric was great on spills--it beads up until you can blot it. Hopefully this puts you and hubby's mind at ease.

What do I see, without knowing dimensions of yours

I see a quality difference first. A shade that is a bit stark for the lamp , a bit of a strange proportion- the shade is too tall.

In other words.....I can't TELL you. You have to do what fits a budget.

    Mine ? 100 watts, 28inches x 15" wide.

Michelle......... do you want to become a client? At 150.00 an hour? My guess is maybe not?

Go back in the thread. Get these,

Use them for NOW in your master, order the Perigold and you wait until October. Put the crystal in the guest bed when Perigold arrives......or use them in the hearth. It is already 8/5............

Surely you have not been sleeping on the floor? With no light wherever you are sleeping? Or I am insane? You haven't a single lamp from the Tudor?

It can't be a one on one thread here, a total design service down to every last item in your home. You HAVE to say...."I really like that lamp" I am willing to wait....or you use the internet and search words

"Marble lamps with brass accents" .

I know you can do that. : )

I think you will find yours worth waiting for

I'm not sure what a designer could do for you that Jan hasn't already done. She's given you free one-on-one advice for a month now.

Good morning, Houzzers! Ms. Michelle, I do feel for you. Looking back, the only real "mistake" was the barstools blocking the way, and that has been taken care of. The sectional is beautiful, just needed a workable spot for your home. Your main bedroom is almost done! You have made solid choices so far!

I can understand if you might be worried about a costly mistake. However, this time you have designer mood boards. This means if you have to make slightly different choices (lamps), you can do that because you have pictures to go by.

There was an HGTV show called Hi-Lo or High Low Design with Sabrina Soto. You can see before and after clips and a few full episodes on HGTV.com or YouTube.  She replicated designer looks from a picture for less. She also did a good job on explaining if she had to pick something different and why it still worked. You may want to check it out for this next part of your process, lighting and decor.

There was a lot of emotion through this and the other threads,  yet look how well everything is  coming together! I hope this is encouraging and reassuring to you. You have the green light!

Challenge: get a different lamp that you like that is similar to the Overstock lamp with Jan's measurements--solo! Search: "tall table lamp white marble gold base" or "tall table lamp modern white base" or whatever you like. Try it out. If you like it, get another for the other nightstand. Worst case scenario, a lamp is a lot easier to return, esp if it is low budget.

Passion may often be synonymous with sickness. ?

But.....there is a limit and it's not a lie to say she may be one of those who simply can't have a designer. It happens. I refused someone just yesterday, for a similar thing.

No designer can put the you...in y.o.u. It's why you don't ever toss every baby with the bath water on a move. All the evidence, no matter you were SICK of your design flavor, gets left behind. Contrary to popular belief, designers don't want the totally empty room, the show house challenge, where they have to INVENT a persona who may inhabit!

@Michelle Moss please post updated pictures of the rooms when your done. I can’t wait to see it all come together.

Hmm… that’s a really good point and it’s exactly the same when teaching painting. People are faced with a blank page and I refuse to tell them… step-by-step…what they should put on it. What’s the point in that? They just get a copy of something, someone else made. Which is OK visually, but doesn’t teach a thing about self-expression.

  • PRO

A room, a blank canvas, or a blank sheet of paper? They are all either scary, or a great opportunity, and yes, both.

What to buy, what to paint, draw, sketch, and what thoughts or words? What MUSIC to any of them. Find a way to lose the fear of letting you out? I'd agree wholeheartedly......it's a bit like that old saw: "Dance like nobody is watching"

Exactly! And the bottom line is…nobody IS watching. Lol. Except your inner critic… or if you happen to have exceptionally rude relatives or friends. In which case don’t invite them in 😉

    So you have 113"

Want side tables on both sides?

You need 18" roughly for each 0r 36 " total.

Which means.... your sofa can be 113 minus that 36 inches or as MUCH as 78 inches long ( 78 is common, relatively depending what you like in a style, and a single inch does NOT MATTER )

OR?? Go all the way up to 84 inches, and all you want/need on the sides is a standing lamps.....which means

like this below from way back.....in the thread - where I didn't draw the lamp on the shelving side of the sofa.

Below? The least expensive, and all you need is the lamps and a coffee table

Sofa? Anywhere between 78 and 84 length.

    You will find....78.....maybe 80...and 84 is common

You can "see" what it looks like. Or you can't.

    Paper and inches don't lie

Depends the map she is using. If suggested or other, Which chairs in which room.

A single Arhaus leather was strongly suggested for Great room, with a SWITCH of the pair in great room to hearth.

    At some point....it's decisions.

Right side of second mood board is HEARTH suggested, or is not: )
