What size are the countertops? Would you be cutting a piece out of this.? You are looking at the whole slab. It will look different if cut into sections.

Two slabs. Both are 121” x 70”. I’d use one for a 9’ x 4’ island keeping as much of the white area as possible. The other slab would be used for counter on either side of the range, most likely the areas outside of the white.

IMO a star counter needs to have a simple backsplash and herringbone is not it .IMO the island is where the star should be and the permimeter can be the plainer part IMO if you really only like the white choose anothe counter

Thank you! I love everything about the slab - all of the colors. I want the white ”swoop” portion on the island because I think it’s the most dramatic part of the slab.

Thanks, Beth - I appreciate your feedback and it makes total sense. I’m somewhat limited in the way I have to go about choosing everything. We’re working with a builder on a new build (haven’t even broken ground yet) and all selections need to be made prior to installation. I’ve already secured two slabs for the countertop, so will use both for the island as well as perimeter. I just thought a simple, white backsplash would be a classic and (hopefully!) easy choice to work with. Since we’re starting from scratch, I don’t have any photos of cabinets. In the photo above, I have two paint samples against the slab - SW Pure White and SW Skyline Steel. The small blue gray chip is the color of the range. I could paint the cabinets SW Pure White but since I’m looking at a white backsplash, I thought it would be nice to paint the cabinets a different color that would also complement the color of the range.

Whites can be hard when all paired together (lots of posts on here attest to that) if it were me, I would spend my time make sure the floors, cabinets and counters work together and then wait on the BS even if it meant paying out of pocket for a tile pro later

I am looking at a very similar slab for my kitchen project. Dolce Vita. There is so much confusion as some places call this quartzite some dolomite and some call it marble. I really love it but I am worried about staining and etching and cracking. Have they told you this is quartzite? Thank you

It’s labeled as a quartzite, but my fabricator told me it is a marble. So, I understood it to be a marble when I put down the deposit. Because of that, I do understand the risks of staining and etching. I plan on sealing the countertop regularly and trying to be more careful when using acidic ingredients, but I’ve accepted that at some point something will stain or etch the counter. I do understand being hesitant about going with a higher maintenance stone. It took me a bit to decide whether or not I wanted to go that route instead of with a quartzite or granite.
