Generally, the dining room rug should be big enough that when the chairs are pulled out they stay on the rug. You'll need to know the chair size and configuration to figure out the proper rug size.

I wouldn't worry about how the rug appears from the island. The rug and table will help visually define the dining space.

I believe you will want your table centered on the bay window & between the two triangle features.

Your only two choices are to have a rug cut to fit or forgo a rug in the area.

You don't often see a Tulip table placed on an area rug, so I recommend no rug.

A round rug is not going to work in this space. They are typically not offered standard larger than 10ft in diameter, and since your table is 8ft long, you'd require a rug almost 14ft in diameter in order to accommodate the chairs

Truthfully, the 94 x 54 oval is too long for the space.

Yet....................some DO like a rug. In this case it won't work. Sometimes it does......

Thank you all! I have two young boys that are doing their best to destroy my hardwood floors, but it sounds like a rug just might not work.

@Jan - I would have preferred the round table, but it just wasn’t an option due to other criteria.
