I would rarely use that size in a bathroom but I like horizontal tile in showers but use 12 x24 tile most often. 2 reasons they usually fit best in almost every bathroom and I find tile installers can handle them much better than the larger ones . Maybe show us the space and the floor plan . I think that size tile needs a huge space and I aslo like the 12 x24 on both the bathroom floor and shower walls porcelain usually in a stacked pattern to keep things simple Vertical install will depend on the height of your ceiling since 2 tiles in the size you mention would fit in a 8' ceiling but probably need some adjustment if the ceiling is even a tiny bit out. As for how it will look I suggest you draw the wall to scale and do the tile on the wall to scale that will give you a pretty good visual

In my master bathroom I used 24x24 on the floors and 30x30 on the shower walls. The bathroom has 10 ft ceilings and the shower wall tile goes to the ceiling.

There are so many large porcelain tiles sold these days, that most good tile installers have no problem installing 24x48. Make sure you get a good tile installer.

Ceiling height will dictate how this lays out. And overall planning and layout before a single tile goes up is absolutely crucial.
