Koko Loko, Elle and Lady Emma Hamilton looking good so far!

Celestial Night and Perfume Factory are  very unhappy

We’ve had temperatures over 90 this week, and my heat champions are Julia Child, Pretty Lady Rose, and Love Song.

Here are Julia Child, Pretty Lady Rose and Love Song after a few days of punishing 95 degree heat. And I’ve seen all three of these roses still looking good into the triple digits.

Two extradrdinary heat resistant varieties, pics taken after the triple digit day

Pashmina iis extraordinary long lasting, and the repeat is fast. New flowers appear before all the old ones look bad. I don’t think it has been without flowers yet since spring, and in late june still almost looks like it’s 1st flush

Veteran’s Honor, A standout for long lasting color in both hot/humid Texas and hot/dry California.

Next week we will get to 108 for two days. The roses will need to fend for themselves, I’m fleeing to the San Francisco bay where it will only be 70!

Diane

My Jude does repeat quite well through the summer, but as you said, once the hot sun comes out those blooms are history, it;s like they race to see whether they can shatter or burn first. The period between the start of the first flush and too-hot summertime is just way too short!

Carla,

Many of my dark reds burn so ugly…Firefighter, Rouge Royale, Autumn Rouge, Love’s Promise, I wonder why I have so many. Mister Lincoln and Chrysler Imperial were terrible burners when I grew them too, ironic that a rose named Firefighter buns so easily.

Ben

The irony is Firefighter is sold as a heat resistant rose. Which it is in the sense that it keeps flowering. You just have to cut them before they open, I guess LOL

Carla

Oh noooooo

Waaah!
