Can you match the existing flooring? If so do that.

What do you mean how? Where did the beech come from? If it’s still available buy that. If it’s no longer manufactured buy unfinished beech and then refinish all to match.

I saved this photo from today’s Latest Stories because I love the look of the floor matching the cabinets. I agree with HALLETT & Co. that continuing the wood would look great, but I cannot speak to how well it would hold up with your dogs.

I found this article on ehow. I did a Google search but had no luck finding out what the flooring is. If you like it, perhaps a local flooring store can help you find something similar.

Thanks for the suggestions. That tile does look great. I am worried that the beech wood is too soft for kitchen and scratches easy. Would white oak go?

I have white oak cabinets with French oak flooring, and am happy with it. Not sure how good the photo is, but the floor has enough varied colors to pull out the same color from the cabinets without matching exactly.
