Peak has now passed

last modified: 2 years ago

Last night's post didn't appear.

It happened I suppose early this week, when we had two days of crappy blooms because of cold nights. You know what daylilies look like after a night of 50 and then bright sun headed towards 90. If it's a crappy bloom day, let it be because of rain. We did have some rain yesterday. Today, a more typical occurrence--humidity without rain. We need a lot to make up for a big deficit in June. Lots of smaller blooms now and washed-out colors, but the following photos were taken possibly earlier (in the last 10 days).

Early Snow (now towards the end) is long blooming and has never looked better.

Free to Dance had some earlier splotchies, but has cleaned up. I continue to like this cultivar.

Mean Green still showing off after its Stout snub.

Clash of Absolutes

Diana's Evening Gown

Uppity Girls

Natalie Antoinette

Spinal Tap

Mrs. Peepers

Truth Teller

Sultry Girls has been clean

Party Girl Pant** did not like a sun shot.

Existential Avatar has been a wow so far this year. Good branching.

Pink Aloha

Tonight's the Nite benefited from last year's tree trimming.

V#### Falls has had a great year.

Passion for Red still among the showiest.

Rainbow Mesa has caught eyes regularly.

Ashwood Dark Side

Toucan Sam looked good for the picture, but had low bud count this year.

Royal Rendezvous has been clean.

Requiem for a Dream

Mantis, you have a lot of beauties in this posting. I really like Clash of Absolutes, Sultry Girls, and Existential Avatar (never heard of that one). Never heard of Tonights the Nite. Love the rolling ruffles.

I started to name favorites, and then I realized almost all of them were favorites. LOL Clash of Absolutes, Mrs. Peppers and Royal Rendevouz stood out because of their deep coloring. It's good to see Natalie Antoinette growing in someone's garden, and that's a lovely shot of Pink Aloha. Sultry Girls is a nice blue purple in your garden. I saw a clump of it in KY and really liked it there. Free to Dance is a pretty Korth, and I like all the Hansons you showed. Great photos even though your weather this season was not favorable!

Hard to think about your peak has already been reached. Passion for Red was always one of my favorites; alas, so thought the voles. Is Existential Avatar new? It is quite striking. Spinal Tap grabs the eye as does Mrs. Peepers. I still think Mean Green never disappoints in the garden.

Existential Avatar is now a clump. I got it when it was introduced. Last year, along with many others, it was subpar. This year has its own set of subpars, but so far, EA is not one of them. A big plant, whose leaves I trim.

This post took forever because Houzz did not like something, and I suspect it is not a fan of Vi******. Tonight's the Nite is a Hanson, that like many of his, is underappreciated because of poor distribution.

Peak was about 10 days early.

Spinal Tap and Uppity Girls are my favorites today. I like the midrib on Spinal Tap, so nice on a vibrant color petal. I like the color and shape of Uppity Girls. So many lovely photos here….wouldn’t know you had a less than average season. Also A lack of rain here. Today I am wondering if peak was last week…timing is so off on many plants.

Pink Aloha is probably the only pink that "pales" that I still liked regardless. It's because of the form of the bloom with that marvelous edge. Alas, it was never hardy for me in my pot system.........Mrs. Peepers was the name of one of my beloved cats. I know you aren't a cat person, but regardless it's a pretty daylily and she was an exceptional cat......Clash of Absolutes is the 3rd one that catches my eye. Such a deep purple. Nice one.......It was 104 here on the 4th (heat index was in the upper stratosphere). Summer is here for all of us.................Maryl

Tonight's the Night, Requiem for a Dream and Sultry Girls are my top picks. Great colors and bloom forms.
