not too dark, just introduce texture...

Will you share photos of the dining room? One from the living area so we can see how the spaces relate and one of the dining room.

I have same issue. I keep looking for matching patern instead of one being more solid. The dining room is huge and really needs a rug.

A sisal rug would be one that wouldn’t compete with the pattern of your rug.

To the Poster….. have you considered the same rug under your dining table? With the table and chairs over the rug pattern, you won’t get as much of the pattern, but you will get the colors you’re looking for.

See if you can find a store on line that places the area rug in your dining room, to see before purchasing.

I was thinking the same thing - get 2 of the same pattern. But I also like the sisal/plain neutral idea

I tend to do matching ones or a one color carpet in a color from the one you love and add a fringe . BTW I do not like carpets under DR tables they make moving chairs awkward and get dirty with spills

An area rug in a dining room is counter indicated anyway. Up your window treatments--panels with some color and movement in a design call it good.

Find the manufacturer of your rug and then look for a rug with the same colors but a different pattern.

I like a rug under the table in the DR, specially if you also have a breakfast table in the kitchen that gets used for everyday meals.
