Also wondered about that. He should be mentioned as a thief who had the audacity to market other people's plants. They did the work, he took the plants and marketed them as his own. Seems as though that should be spelled out for each plant he stole.

Like the Lakesides there is some scandal involved and I find that it just adds to the story. History is history.

The story on the lower right corner, Paul Aden story,if you open it it says: The Great Deception. Yes history is history, but I don’t think he should be listed in the HL as the registrant of any hosta that he did not create. The story is there and I think it belongs there so people can read what he did

As far as I am concerned, Aden already had his karma closed. He died lonely, despised and nowhere near influential popular hosta breeder /guru he was hoping to be.

Considering how many phenomenal hosta gardens get bulldozered by new owners I tend to agree that it is all part of the story. Some really bad and some lucky for all of us where hosta hybridizing was advanced to next level.

Wish I bought some hostas from Rob, I did join his page back when but was in different place financially. Now I heard a lot was lost as it was potted and did not survive.

I have decent collection of Lakesides and good number of OS. Most of them are in private gardens, and I do not know if Mary released them all or some were just in her collection that was lost.

I bought a few hosta from Rob maybe 7-8 years ago. None have done that well. On the other hand I got a tiny LS Paisley Print at a nursery and it has become quite large. Guess you never know how things will turn out.
