No picture, no ideas. But if laminate is peeling, the best thing is to glue it back on.

Contact the manufacturer. I had wood cabinets by Holiday Kitchens years ago that had the sheen around the handles rub off. It was very apparent. I never did fix it. I moved. But I would ask the manufacturer if you know who they are. Maybe still under warranty? But post pics here....that'd be helpful. We can't advise without know what the material is.

The finish coming off around handles is knobs and pulls with insufficient projection to keep oily fingers and fingernails from contacting the cabinet. No warranty on that, from any manufacturer. It's considered abuse.

No "fixing" that. The laminate is delaminating. Either peel it all off and try to glue on a new piece, or start thinking about replacement.

What company manufactured the cabinets? They should have some type of warranty - the number of years will depend upon where they were purchased. There are consumer protection laws + protections under the UCC code - but I am very doubtful that the applicable statute of limitations will be more than around four years.

Six years doesn’t seem that long to me - however, I’ve never had laminate cabinets.

Were special cleaning instructions provided when they were installed? if yes, were those instructions followed?

Apparently, you can remove the laminate by using a hairdryer to heat it up - then it should peel. There are several YouTube videos re: this issue.

Question: when you typed ”chipboard” - what exactly did you mean? Mdf, particle board, furniture board, etc. are called by different names by people who aren’t in a business that uses those materials. Are you able to post a photo of what it looks like? Many people have removed laminate and have mdf that’s in really good shape still - and can be painted just like other mdf kitchen cabinets (or other furniture).

My neighbor (next to my lake house) purchased a sprayer off of Facebook marketplace and refinished his kitchen cabinets. He joined a popular painting group on Facebook in order to determine the best way to refinish his cabinets. I think he used something from Renner (2k) - the finish looks really nice.

My kitchen cabinets at my lake house are painted - and have some chips here and there. He told me that I could borrow his sprayer (and foldable spray booth) + he’d tell me all of the prep he did + the product he used if I wanted to do mine.

I told him that I do the least amount of work possible when I’m down at the lake. Also, if people drink enough, no one will notice any of the chips 😂
